Car dealership trouble...?

after signing a lease agreement, i%26#039;ve had this vehicle for about a month. the %26quot;finance%26quot; manager calls me earlier this week, telling me i need to return the vehicle today since the %26quot;deal%26quot; didnt fall through. i asked what happens from there...do i get my $1000 deposit back or what? he tells me that they will have a check processed for me and it takes a week. is this true? what should i do?

Seek professional legal advice in your area. That is the only way you can protect yourself from future problems caused by this %26quot;incompetent%26quot; dealership. They will be within their rights to charge you for the mileage you put on the vehicle. That is another reason to seek legal advice.

Car dealership trouble...?

I%26#039;ve never leased a car before but that sure sounds weird. If they had you sign an agreement and you%26#039;ve had the car a month already, how can the lease agreement not go through? Either they%26#039;re idiots or something is funny. Call and ask to speak to the general manager (not the finance manager), tell him what you told us. You should also probably contact a lawyer.

I would reread your contract because it sounds like this dealer might have made a mistake in your favor and by asking you to return the vehicle and giving back your deposit, they are hoping that you do just that and not fight it.

Car dealership trouble...?

I%26#039;ve been in the car business for 20 years and your story deson%26#039;t make sense to me, given the information you gave. Some dealers will and do %26quot;launch%26quot; people without an official bank/leasing company approval, but they usually have an approval within hours or at most a day or two, so its hard for me to understand how you had the car for an entire month without any awareness that there was a problem, i would assume that there is language on your purchase order indicating that there is a pending finance approval. Sorry for your inconveniance and trouble, but maybe you should have someone look at your paperwork someone who is more knowlegable about these things than you...short of an attorney call around to another dealership(a competitor, of the one you dealt with, and ask the finance guys there if your paperwork looks ok, or if the first dealer may have screwed up.

If you used a check for a down payment, then this is common. You can always ask for the GM and tell him that they should give you that money right now since they inconvenienced you.
